A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." - William Shakespeare
(1564–1616)
Where as that statement is certainly true of roses, it is NOT true of our Lord, Jesus Christ. "For there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Acts 4:12 KJV
In the name of Jesus, we are saved, delivered, healed, sanctified, baptized in the Holy Spirit; we are called to a holy life and empowered to live that life in, by and through God's grace. There is power in the name of Jesus, "...all power is given unto me in heaven and earth." Matthew 82:18 KJV.
In his name we are commissioned to "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." Mark 16:15 KJV.
When we pray, in Jesus' name we receive what we have prayed for. “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” Matthew 21:22 KJV
At the name of Jesus, hell trembles and heaven rejoices. No one single name since the beginning of time has impacted history (his-story) more than the name of Jesus.
"And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written." John 21:25 KJV
Have a great day; and remember who and Whose you are.
I didn't know
the origin of "One Solitary
Life" until I researched it last year. It was written by Dr. James
Allan Francis in 1925 and later appeared in a book he compiled, The Real Jesus and Other Sermons,
published by Judson Press in 1926. That Scripture reference is doubtless the inspiration for the writing.
One Solitary Life
He was born in an obscure village,
The child of a peasant woman.
He grew up in another obscure village
Where he worked in a carpenter shop
Until He was 30.
He never wrote a book.
He never held an office.
He never went to college.
He never visited a big city.
He never traveled more than 200 miles
From the place where He was born.
He did none of the things
Usually associated with greatness.
He had no credentials but Himself.
He was only 33
When He died.
His friends ran away.
One of them denied Him.
He was turned over to His enemies
And went through the mockery of a trial.
He was nailed to a cross between two thieves.
While dying, His executioners gambled for His clothing,
The only property He had on earth.
When He was dead,
He was laid in a borrowed grave
Through the pity of a friend.
Twenty centuries have come and gone
And today Jesus is the central figure of the human race
And the leader of mankind's progress.
All the armies that have ever marched,
All the navies that have ever sailed,
All the parliaments that have ever sat,
All the kings that ever reigned put together
Have not affected the life of mankind on earth
As powerfully as that One Solitary Life.
