Don't Worry, Be Happy!

I'm sure most people have heard that song by Bobby Mc Ferrin that was so popular a few years ago. That song has taken on a very special meaning to me and my daughters.
   
The first time we heard that song, we were all together in my bedroom sitting on the bed. We had been laughing and talking and just enjoying each others company. It was so refreshing because we were along way from home.

The phone interrupted our frivolity. The news was shocking!  

The news from home was that our dear friends, now our pastors, had just lost their son in a terrible automobile accident. He was only 19 years old. He was the sort of young man that could charm young and old alike. We all knew and loved him.
   
As we began to grieve, "Don't Worry, Be Happy!" began playing on the radio. Somehow, the Holy Spirit used that song to lift our heavy hearts. We began to reminisce and retell stories concerning our dear sweet friend. We still grieved; but there was an assurance that Jesse was up in heaven with Jesus, smiling that infectious smile and waiting for all of us to join him.

How precious the Lord is to come to our sides and hold us when we grieve. He promised that he would never leave or forsake us; and He keeps His promises. Let the Holy Spirit lift your heart as you feast on God's goodness today.
