Like Paper Dolls

“Our character is but the stamp on our souls of the free choices of good and evil we have made through life." ~ John C. Geikie

Do any of you remember paper dolls? When I was a small girl, I dearly loved paper dolls. They were such fun. I could play with them for hours,  putting off or putting on the proper costumes to fit the imaginary occasion.

In Colossians it talks about "putting off" and "putting on" to fit the new nature we have been given in Christ. A life style change doesn't  just magically or mystically happen to us when we are born into the Kingdom of God. The temptation to continue behaving and living in the old way does not instantly disappear. We have had a lot of practice thinking in the old ways.

This Christian walk is a daily thing. We have to be transformed by daily renewing our minds with the Word of God. That is how we will be able to put off the old things of the world.

"But now you must also put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds....Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if any one has a complaint against another;  even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts."   Colossians 3:8-9 and 12,13-15(a) KJV

Have a great day; and remember who and Whose you are.
