At Home

“A man travels the world over in search of what he needs and returns home to find it." ~ George Moore

Travel can be invigorating and enlightening. It can also make one long for the comforts of home.

I remember a time when I had to travel a great deal. It was very exciting at first. As the weeks and months went by, as well as the miles, I began to long for home. I missed the familiarity of my own belongings around me.  I actually missed cooking and cleaning my own kitchen. Those things that I needed to make my life full and comfortable were at home.

As I sojourn here on this earth, I find that I long more and more for the comfort of God's presence and glory in my life. My home is in heaven, and I long for that.

Each day, each headline reminds me that I am not a citizen of this world. I long for the day when Jesus returns to take me home.

The pressures of life, the struggles, the turmoil all around me makes me long to be forever in the presence of God. There, is everything I need. There, I will not have to struggle to remain in His presence. There, I will be  at home.

"Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore."  Psalm 16:11 KJV

"Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy." Jude v. 24 KJV
