Happy Children |
How can you think of those noisy barbarians who are brawling in the hallway as a "gift from God?"
Let's get real now. For some of us that would be a picture right out of the "Beaver Cleaver Family". Some of us have kids on drugs, children getting pregnant, kids caught up in pornagraphy, kids who hurt and cut themselves and on and on and on. A little noise in the morning would be preferable to the drama and the police visiting in the night and the seedy characters that come in and out of our lives because our children are making bad choices. We're not really sure how it got this bad, but it is bad.
Inspite of all that, the Bible plainly states in Psalm 127:3a (KJV) "Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord:"
Not all of us are those parents that are the perfect example for our kids. Then there are those parents who are caught up in the same things that our children are now wallowing in. It is ugly and it feels hopeless and helpless.
Well here is where I can help you! The helpful part is that it really isn't your job to see that they learn those lessons of life that will be taught them one way or another. Yes, you need to tell them. Yes, you need to guide them. And, yes, you need to be that example of a Christian parent before them. I wasn't that parent. Many of us are not; but we still love our children and want better for them.
As to seeing that they learn the lessons they need to thrive and do well in life, that is God's job. You have God's Word on that! When I found that out, it was so liberating! Now, I let God handle it. His Word never fails. All I have to do is simply believe His Word and trust that He will do what He said He would do.
"And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children" Isaiah 54:13 KJV
If it is the case that you're one of those parents that taught your children the wrong way to live like I did, there is hope for you too. That same God has already forgiven you of all your sin-past present and future because of Jesus Christ. There's still more--God doesn't even remember your sins against you. God is not angry with you and he will not rebuke you for your sins.
The best place to start is for you to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. That gives you right standing with God that cannot be taken from you. Now you are on solid ground. Allow God to work in your life and give you children to him to teach them how life should be lived.
It has all changed for me. If He will do it for me, He will do it for you! If he'll do it for you, he will do it for your children, too!
Simply accept Him and believe His Word.
"For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more." Hebrews 8:12 King James Version (KJV)
Life can be so much better,
