Looking Upward

"It feels like I take one step forward and two steps backwards." - Unknown

Do you ever feel like that?  I often feel that way, but it is usually when I look at my circumstances rather than what God's Word says. It is hard to keep an upward focus when I am looking all around me.

I find myself in a set of circumstances that tend to overwhelm me sometimes. God has delivered me out of a bad situation. I praise Him for that, and I am very grateful that He did.

The situation left my finances in turmoil. It has been touch and go financially; but God has never failed me. About the time I started to think that things were under control financially, something happened from the 'old situation' that set them back again. I started looking all around me and trying to figure out how I was going to fix the problem. I forgot to look up.

God is my provision--not my job, not my carefully laid plans, not anyone or anything else. When the flesh gets in the way, God can do nothing. It is when we stop trying to do it ourselves and give it to him that things straighten out.

I am back on track now. I am looking to God, my Father, to supply my needs.

Looking upward rather than around will take me forward.  Looking to the Father will never take me backwards. He only leads onward and upward.

"I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor His seed begging bread." Psalm 37:25

Have a great day; and remember who and Whose you are.
