Unity Of Purpose

BY "United we stand, divided we fall." ~ Aesop

Unity of purpose is one of the most powerful dynamics of A.A. It is a requirement of Christianity. It is an earmark of free societies.

That does not mean that there will never be conflict within the confines of such organizations of peoples. On the contrary, there will be conflict, differences of opinions, and out-and-out disagreements. Conflict, if handled well, can be a catalyst towards unity.

The best expression of what unity should look like was written long ago and the original author remains in dispute: In essentials — unity; in non-essentials — liberty; in all things — charity."

Perhaps if we, as Christians, become so at odds with the forces of evil which are so rampant in our world today, we might be able to come together in unity and stop allowing those very things to prosper. Perhaps we will have the strength of unity to say sin is sin, and God has a solution for it. Perhaps we will go beyond our comfort zones and compel the sinners to come in. Perhaps we will put our money where our mouths are; and quit supporting abortion, promiscuity, pornography, and homosexuality; and give unto God His due so that the Gospel may be preached to the lost of our community and, indeed, the whole world.

Perhaps, I need to pray more, love more, be a witness in my own home more, then, in the rest of my community more. What would that look like?

Revival starts in one heart at a time. Let it start in me.

"If My people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and
pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."  2
Chronicles 7:14 NKJ

Have a great day; and remember who and Whose you are.
