“Intercessory prayer might be defined as loving our neighbor on our knees.” – Charles Brent
Have you prayed for that friend who is not saved, for that loved one who is sorely distressed, that dear couple who is entertaining the idea of divorce? We have first responders that go out every day to face danger and help other people; surely they could use a prayer on their behalf now and then.
If ever we needed to pray for those who have authority over us, it is now. Pray for our military, pray for our government decision makers, and judges, pray for law enforcement, pray for wisdom and goodness to prevail. Pray for Christians and sinners alike.
“Rejoice evermore. (17) Pray without ceasing. (18) In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” I Thessalonians 5:16-18 KJV
I’m not talking about a ‘bless-this-one-and bless-that-one’ kind of prayer or a Facebook click “like” kind of prayer. I am, also, not telling you how to pray; but I am suggesting that we all need to take the power we have in prayer more seriously. It is both a privilege and a responsibility that God has entrusted to us.
“And in that day, ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you,Whatever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you". John 16:23 KJV
Then He gave us the name of Jesus in which all power and authority is imbued. There is nothing more effectual than praying for someone in the authority of the name Jesus the Christ. God has exalted the name of Jesus Christ above every other name that has ever been named, or ever will be named. Jesus is the beginning and the end, the alpha and the omega. After we have sealed a prayer in the name of Jesus, whatever we have prayed for is an accomplished feat.
“And what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, (20) Which he wrought In Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, (21) Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come; (22) And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all.” Ephesians 19-23 KJV
Love, true love, gives! Give love-time in prayer for those whom you love. Love is a conscious act of the will. Love them in word, and in deed; but, above all, love them in prayer.
Have a great day; and remember who and Whose you are

"Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, (25) To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen." Jude v. 24-25 KJV
