Think Another Thought

"I can't help what I think!” - A commonly held opinion

Haven't we all heard people say that? Well, it may be a commonly held opinion, but it is wrong! The truth is, you can help what you think. Just because a thought comes into your mind, it does not mean that you have to accept it. You can reject any thought and think another one.

The arena of the thought life is very critical to living a Christian life. The Bible tells us that we are what we think. "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:" Proverbs 23:7(a) KJV.

If we have an evil heart we will think evil thoughts; and we will do evil things. "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:" Matthew 15:19 KJV.

If we have a regenerated heart--and if you are saved you do have a regenerated heart--we are told to think good thoughts; and good actions will follow. "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”  Philippians 4:8 KJV

Actions always spring forth from thoughts. Thought patterns can become habits. Habits become character. We can choose to form good habits or bad ones; good character or bad.

Don't let the devil fool you into believing that you cannot help what you think. There are too many places in God's Word that tell us the opposite.  When we were saved, Jesus changed our hearts. Now let us change our minds by his power.

Here is how to do that…"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."   Romans  12:2 KJV

Have a great day; and remember who and Whose you are.
