My mom was in hospital recently. She had experienced a cardiac event that was arrested in process. She had been assigned to the ICU; and I was with her when a young woman from the respiratory department was there to asses her. The
young lady was quite pretty, in spite of looking very tired.
Mom had no respiratory difficulties so the young lady was about to leave after given her the medical history of my mother. I mentioned mom was doing much better because we had prayed for her.
That opened the door to talk to this young lady about the Lord. She told us she believed in the power of prayer. I then related to her how God had healed me of COPD and pneumonia, and testimonies of other healings. Well, as you might expect we had a wonderful time of fellowship with this young lady.
At one point she told us that she felt guilty and condemned at times; because occasionally there would be people that were so rude and nasty to her that she found herself not wanting to even treat them, though she did any way. She sometimes wondered if God was displeased with her for that.
That was like saying “sic‘em” to a bulldog. We told her that there is nothing she (or anyone else) could ever do or not do to change the way God feels about us. We shared about God’s love, about unending favor and about the gift of condemnation. She was particularly happy to hear that Jesus has forgiven all our sin--past, present and future. We were able to pray with her before she left.
When she left that room, she looked refreshed, she was happy, and she gave us hugs. Mom and I were both refreshed and happy too.
Sharing the “Good News” with that young lady was just like spreading that jam; we got it all over us and her too!
