Give Credit To Others

"A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle." ~  Unknown

My dad used to be my pastor. He retired in 1998 (and refired). He was always lavish with recognition and compliments for his co-laborers in the ministry. He is the kind of man who inspires loyalty.

My new pastor was my dad's associate pastor. He, too, is a man who publicly recognizes others for their contributions. He turned out to be a great pastor; and like my dad, he is loved and respected. At this time, we have a team of pastors and leaders in our church who are all as generous with praise and recognition as is my dad and Senior Pastor Norm.

None of these persons is diminished because they give credit to others. Quite the contrary is true. They are all loved and respected because they chose to walk in love, give God the glory, and give their fellow laborers credit for a job well done.

Praising, encouraging, and recognizing others causes people to aspire to greater heights. Parents, coaches, teachers all know that one will aspire to live up to the expectations of those who lead them. They cause those of us who know them to reach for the stars, as well as, for Jesus.

A pattern was established. Each one lighted the other's candle. It is a good example for us all.

Have a great day; and remember who and Whose you are.
