Dear God, Thank you for my baby brother; but what I asked for was a puppy. Love, Joyce." - "Cute Letters to God" from Frankie Parks
Have you ever asked God for one thing and gotten something else like Joyce did? Sometimes the things we think we want just wouldn't be good for us. As a matter of fact, they might even be harmful to us in the long run.
Our Heavenly Father knows what we have need of and He knows what we don't need. God often leads us to where we need to go in spite of all our wishes and wants. God sees things from His eternal perspective.
It is easy to loose sight of the big picture when we are consumed with the details of day to day living. I think that we forget that everything we see is temporal. The heavens and the earth will all pass away some day. There will be a new heaven and a new earth. We will spend eternity with our Lord and the day to day we worry so much about now will be just the past.
The next time you ask for one thing and get something else instead, like Joyce, be sure to thank the Father. Know that God is truly concerned with every aspect of your life. God is a good God that created the heavens and the earth; but you mean more to God than all those other creations. He sent His Son to die for people not things. Know that He will not withhold any good thing from you; but He will withhold those things that are harmful to you.
"Every good gift and perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." James 1:17 KJV
Have a great day; and remember who and Whose you are.

"Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy." Jude v. 24 KJV
