You Are What You Eat



“You are what you eat.” ~ This is a favorite saying of moms and the health conscious everywhere.

To a very great degree, medical science has proven that to be true. It is also true of the Christian walk. What we read, what we watch on TV, what we think about in our private moments define who we are and how we act. 

When I moved into my apartment, I had satellite TV installed. I wanted to be able to record programs and watch them at my convenience. I really enjoy that feature. 

Most of the programming of my package is in no way anything that I want to watch. Even the channels that boast of being family friendly have programming that isn't fit for adults, let alone, children. That's why I like to pick and choose what I watch and when I watch it. 

We used to sing a little song years ago in Sunday School that said, “Be careful little eyes what you see. Be careful little ears what you hear. Be careful little mouth what you say.” I think it is wise to choose carefully the kind of “foods” that we feed our hearts and minds; because we do indeed become what mental "food" we eat.

We become more healthy, more whole, more like Jesus the more we feed on Him. He is our supply for everything we need in this life. There is no area of your life with which he is not concerned. That is why the salvation that he lived, died and rose again to give to us is so all encompassing. 

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.  Philippians  4:8 NIV
